Getting Started

Free Consultations

I offer free in-person consultations about therapy or assessments. It is an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere to meet me and to get a feel for whether we would work well together; a good client-therapist fit is the best predictor of therapy outcome. It also gives you the chance to see my office and determine if the office is a good, sensory-friendly environment in which to work. You will be able to ask questions you may have about therapy, assessments, or other topics you might be wondering about in making up your mind about coming in regularly. You may also interview me about my skills, background, treatment approach, or other topics. There is no obligation and no commitment to meet beyond the consultation.

If this is of interest to you, please contact me and we can set an appointment usually within one week of contacting me on-line or by phone.

Insurance

I am on the provider panel for Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you choose to bill your insurance, please call your provider and determine your fee before coming to your first session.

You may also choose to pay out-of-pocket. Many individuals choose not to bill their insurance for a variety of reasons.

I am also available to assist you with the process of billing your insurance to reimburse you from your Out-of-Network insurance benefits.

Reduced Fee

I have a limited number of openings available through the Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. If you do not have insurance and are in financial need of a reduced fee, please inquire about the current availability of the Open Path option.

Payment

Forms of payment include cash or check only. I do not accept debit or credit cards.

Flexible spending account checks can be obtained from account administrators to make payments from flex accounts.

I am happy to schedule appointments by telephone or online. I am available by text on the Signal encrypted messaging app; please contact me first to obtain my texting phone number. First appointments can typically be scheduled within ten days of contact.

Appointment Hours

I am in the office 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 10 to 4 pm Monday and Friday.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot make it to a session that you have scheduled, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Appointment cancelled due to your illness or the illness of a family member will not be considered a late cancellation.

If you miss your appointment and have not cancelled, you will be charged the full rate of the session. Insurance companies do not typically reimburse for missed appointment fees.

Online Therapy

During the COVID-19 virus outbreak, online therapy will be available for free consultations and individual sessions. For a limited time Blue Cross Blue Shield is allowing many of its participants to receive behavioral health services via online therapy. Please contact me for further information.
